When an organ is removed from a donor's body, if necessary, it was transferred to the hospital where the recipient can be grafted. The organ is placed with hypothermia in a cooler to -4 °C. The fastest means of transport is privileged : road, rail, or plane.
If the road is chosen, companies specializing in the transfer of organs are then solicited. They usually have vans to accommodate more of the graft, the medical team that will perform the transplant.
Deadlines are extremely short : 3 to 4 hours for a heart, 6 to 8 am for a lung, 12 to 18h for a liver.
